POP fans Adrian and Marrianne Strong are to meet Fame Academy starlet Katie Lewis at their Dorchester home.

The couple, of Stowcastle Street, Poundbury, won permission to set up a fan club and website for Katie after seeing her on the TV show.

Now they are to meet the 18-year-old Bristol girl and her parents when they travel to Dorset for talks about the new enterprise.

Mr Strong, 50, said: "She's coming to the fan club headquarters to go through the details.

"I've already talked to her on the phone and she is so down to earth.

"She's not a prima donna at all and has her feet on the ground even though her life is never going to be the same again."

He added: "More than 1,000 people have already visited the website we set up.

"Katie has left the Fame Academy on television but she is not left out of things.

"The programme makers have still got a lot going on for them and she is still part of the Fame Academy set-up."

Miss Lewis shot to fame when she was chosen as one of the 12 hopefuls on the BBC 1 Fame Academy show.

She won viewers' sympathy after being nominated for eviction for several weeks before finally being 'expelled'.

Mr and Mrs Strong, who also run the Shania Twain Traditional UK Fan Club, believe the teenager is destined for the top in the showbiz world.

They contacted Miss Lewis's mother about their plans and were given permission to set up a website and found a fan club.

The couple say they run the Shania Twain and Katie Lewis fan clubs as a labour of love rather than as a profit-making exercise.

Miss Lewis met Shania Twain when the singer visited the Fame Academy to pass some expert tips on to the pop hopefuls.

The website address is www.katielewis.org and fans can also phone 07092 330800 to join up.
