DORCHESTER Athletic Club is celebrating another success at national level after 11-year-old javelin thrower Jemma Tewkesbury was named in the UK's top ten for her age group.
In her first season of javelin throwing, she recorded the eighth best throw of the season with her 26.72m at a floodlit meeting in Exeter in September.
Earlier in the season Jemma won the under 13 County Championship in May with a throw of over 24m. She threw over 26m several times in training.
Club coach John Hawthorne commented: "Jemma is a talented, determined and hard working young athlete and excels at a number of events."
