LISA SIMMONS will be heading off to far flung places in aid of a good cause when she travels to South America with Raleigh International.
The 21-year-old law graduate from Ferndown is travelling to the jungles of Belize in February where she will spend ten weeks working on challenging community projects.
It is not yet known exactly what she will be doing but projects could range from building a school to improving water facilities or coaching sports.
But first she needs to raise a minimum of £3,300 for the charity Raleigh International towards their work and to cover her costs.
She said: "I have so far raised £1,500 if I include gift aid for my vertical challenge on November 2. The challenge involves climbing the equivalent height of the highest mountain in Chile up the stairs of Guys Tower in London with a small team of people from Raleigh.
"I am also hoping to organise a fancy dress disco and raffle and a fashion show but I am also looking for sponsors from local companies or raffle donations."
Lisa, who gained a first class degree from Birmingham University, is currently working in the accounts department at European Aviation Air Charter Ltd at West Parley. She hopes to return to studying after her year out.
