CHERRIES' stylish midfielder Brian Stock added a fashionable shirt to his collection of prized caps after making his second appearance for Wales earlier this week.

Stock swapped shirts with former Chelsea youngster Sam Dalla Bona following Wales's 2-1 defeat by Italy in a European Under-21 Championship qualifier at Cardiff's Ninian Park on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old Winchester-born playmaker replaced Coventry's Lee Fowler in the 67th minute and lined up against Dalla Bona during the closing stages after the AC Milan star had also come off the bench.

Stock, who returned to training with Cherries today, told the Daily Echo: "Dalla Bona is a player I have admired for a while. He's a big name, he plays for AC Milan and I like the way he plays.

"I shook hands with him after the game and asked if we could swap shirts. He was happy to do it and his shirt will be a nice keepsake for me.

"My mum was bought up near Chelsea and has always followed them and my brother Dave and his two sons Adam and Josh all support them so they will be pleased to see the shirt as well."

Dalla Bona, who joined AC Milan in a £1.5m move from Chelsea in the summer, helped Italy consolidate their place at the top of Group Nine and also extended Wales's winless run to 26 matches.

Stock added: "It was nice to get my second cap and I enjoyed the game. It's hard to make an impression when you come on as a sub, but you just have to make sure that you put in the best possible performance.

"We started off really well and gave them a good run for their money. I thought maybe we were going to come away with a good result but an error cost us at least a point.

"All the Italians were technically very good, but I think they were a bit surprised by the way we got stuck in and the spirit among the welsh side.

The manager shook my hand and said well done after the game. He also said "see you soon" so that's a good sign for the next game."

Stock, voted Sky's Nationwide man-of-the-match following Cherries' 2-1 win over Hartlepool on Sunday, will be hoping to be involved in the next squad named by boss Jimmy Shoulder for Wales's trip to Azerbaijan next month.
