AN electrical fault is being blamed for a massive blaze which wrecked a detached house at Uplyme in the early hours of Tuesday.
Eleven fire engines and more than 60 firefighters from throughout the area were called to the village when neighbours reported the smoke coming from the house called Mona on the corner of Tappers Knapp.
The property is owned by Steve and Jane Phillips, licensees of the Royal Standard pub in lyme. They were sleeping at the Inn with their three children and the house was empty.
Half the roof was severely damaged and the entire second floor was severely affected by heat and smoke.
