POOLE pop wannabe Chris Manning is preparing for one of the most nerve-wracking moments of his life - singing for survival in the Fame Academy.

The 23-year-old from Creekmoor has been sharing his concerns with his fellow housemates as his live television showcase draws nearer.

Chris, a former Corfe Hills School and Bournemouth and Poole College pupil, will sing Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl in front of a live audience and millions of television viewers tomorrow night.

He was put on probation by his tutors, who said he was cocky, not working well in a group and lacking self-identity in song writing.

According to the Fame Academy website, Chris has taken the personal criticism hard but is determined to try and be himself.

He told fellow contestants Malachi and Lemar: "I'm glad that people do see that I'm not confident. I should avoid looking more confident than I am, I pretend that I am not vulnerable.

"I don't like changing the way I am behaving. I suppose I should be more honest, it's a way of guarding myself, I suppose."

Chris, of Goldfinch Road, will compete against Pippa Fulton and Katie Lewis to try and earn another week in reality gameshow Fame Academy. His performance will be screened live on BBC1 at 8.30pm.
