CHRISTCHURCH Council has agreed plans to spruce up a historic quarter of the town.
The community services committee has agreed that the council should seek a tender for environmental improvements in Millhams Street.
Already allocated for the scheme is £30,000 from the policy and resources committee and a further £30,000 from Dorset County Council which must be spent this financial year.
Council officers have been consulting with ward councillors and residents on the best way to advance the project.
The scheme, which has won approval in principle, includes footpath improvements with widened footways, high kerb faces and residents-only parking.
The head of technical services has now been instructed to complete the design and seek tender proposals.
Costings will come back before the community services committee to choose the best scheme and which materials should be used.
It is expected that works will get under way early next year.
