HOLT UNITED 6, BRIDPORT RESERVES 0

BRIDPORT Reserves slumped to their third successive Dorset Combination League defeat when they were outplayed by championship-chasing Holt.

The Bees sent a patched-up side to Gaunt's Common and the team-raising problems they have suffered from all season are beginning to catch up with them.

Manager Mike Thompson said: "We are on the bones of our backside for a side. A defeat like this is something that was always going to happen.

"We had so many players injured an unavailable. Then you get others who will only play when they want to play and with that attitude you get nothing. The only positive thing to come out of the day for me was that some of our reserves have gone through to the first team and they have got a good result.

"Even the mini-bus broke down before we set off. It was a pity it was mended, but at least we don't have to go there again."

Paul Lane gave Holt a fifth-minute lead and further goals from Robbie Sweatlove and Geoff Moxham put them three goals ahead at the interval.

Richard Green, Kevin Blackham and Lane's second goal of the game sealed Holt's eleventh win of the season.
