YOUTH workers were celebrating today after scooping £20,000 to boost services for young people in Dorset.

The Lloyds TSB Foundation awarded the grant to the Dorset Linx charity to employ a project co-ordinator to expand its activities.

The Linx group, set up by 12 organisations that offer advice to young people in Dorset, aims to combat problems such as homelessness and drug abuse.

Its new project co-ordinator will work with staff to focus on fundraising and training for employees and volunteers.

Sara Jackson, Linx vice-chairman, said: "We are delighted with this donation from the Lloyds TSB Foundation.

"It will enable us to improve and co-ordinate our services to young people."

The award was due to be made in a presentation today at the Routes young people's advice and information centre in North Square, Dorchester.

Sue Smith, Lloyds TSB Dorchester branch manager, said: "It's great that the Lloyds TSB Foundation has been able to assist Dorset Linx with its development."
