SPORTS turned the tables in the second-half to come away from North Dorset with their first Dorset Combination League victory of the season.

And while their new manager Barry Lawley was a happy man, his opposite number, former Dorchester defender Neil Coates lambasted his side for a shocking second-half performance that allowed Sports back into the game after they trailed at the break.

"We deserved to win because we worked very hard and were never out of the game," said Lawley. "In the second-half we came on strong and proved fitter than them in the end."

The North Dorset side had the best of the opening period and scored the only goal of the half when Pete Skevington volleyed in from 40 yards after a miscued clearance from Sports goalkeeper Anthony Luque.

But when a home defender threw Sports a lifeline with a mis-placed crossfield pass, the alert Marc Hillier pounced and held off two defenders as he ran 20 yards before slotting home the leveller.

With Sports now on top, Mike Flann met a Craig Robinson corner with a first-time volley to put them in front and Jamie Mitchell then forced home Chris Armstrong's corner to wrap up a fine win that put Sports among the league's early pacesetters.
