J Robertson writes from Monmouth Road to denounce the proposed new district council offices on Charles Street, ‘A glass palace for councillors’, (Your Say, April 15).
It is right to be angry, but wrong to attack all councillors. We are Dorchester district councillors and have voted time and again against this folly of a project.
Unfortunately, we have not so far carried the day, being out-voted by councillors from out of town.
There is, though, an opportunity in the town poll on Thursday for Dorchester voters to have their say.
We hope they will take it. The question on the ballot paper is ‘Do you agree with the proposal of West Dorset District Council to move from their present headquarters in High West Street to a new multi-million-pound office block which they propose to build?’ There will be a YES box and a NO box to mark. Voters can chose either.
The usual polling stations will be open from 4pm to 9pm, but there are no postal votes.
