Hi, my name is Adam and I am 13 years old. I go to school on Portland and my main hobby is Sailing.

I sail at least twice a week at SailLaser which is based at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

I first started sailing during a school trip when I was at a local primary school.

I went to SailLaser as part of the 'Sail for a Fiver' scheme which is open to Dorset children in years 5 and 6. I really enjoyed my afternoons sailing - it was the first time I'd been on the water apart from a rubber dinghy!

I was really chuffed when I won the Dorset Echo award for the most promising child of the afternoon. After I won the award, I was offered the chance to do the Royal Yatching Assosication Stage 1 and 2 qualifications.

This was sponsored by the Chesil Trust who also help with the funding for 'Sail for a Fiver'.

After I had completed the course, I knew that I wanted to do more so I joined the RYA OnBoard Club at SailLaser.

I sailed once a week most of the year round and was great fun. I started sailing in a Laser Pico and once I got used to it I took part in races, we even played a few games too!

I later progressed to Race Club and currently sail in the Laser Race Club where we have moved up to sailing Laser 4.7's.

I haven't looked back since 'Sail for a Fiver' and it started a hobby that has given me loads of opportunities both on and off the water.

Over the coming weeks I hope to share some of those stories with you!
