A DETERMINED group of slimmers lost more than 100 stone in 12 weeks to raise money for the Dorset County Hospital’s Digital Mammography Appeal.

One hundred dieters from the Southill and Chickerell Slimming World groups joined forces to raise £619 for charity by getting sponsored on a 12-week slimathon.

The group, who lost 103 stone between them, took on the challenge as part of the nationwide Let’s Beat Obesity campaign where dieters get sponsored to lose weight and get healthier in just three months. Each group was asked for ideas of what they would like to raise money for and the overwhelming reaction was to raise money for the hospital’s new mammography machine.

Group consultant Anne Elswood said that the charity appeal had really hit home with the groups and that she was very proud of each and every one of the slimmers.

She said: “I just think it hit home to a lot of ladies and their husbands too.

“I hope they make their target – it’s good that everyone’s pulled together.”
