A CELEBRATION event is taking place on Portland to encourage islanders to enjoy a new play area and community garden.
The special family day at the Governor’s Garden is being held on Friday July 29 to thank those involved with its development. It also aims to encourage more people to help with future projects and other environmental schemes across the Island.
The gardens are situated at the Young Offender Institution (YOI), the Grove, opposite the main gate. Visitors will be able to see demonstrations on healthy eating and catering skills, learn foraging and bushcraft skills and find out more about Portland’s wildflowers and botanic garden.
