A SPECTACULAR time-lapse digital photography movie showing the unusual night-life of Portland will be among the films showcased in the ICCI arena.

Former national newspaper photographer Norman Lomax is looking forward to seeing his Portland Timescapes Film – showing iconic locations and viewpoints on the island – in the 360-degree environment.

Norman, of Fortuneswell, who is also former head of media at Weymouth College, said: “It was a massive project, which I’m only just starting really.

“It involves taking pictures every 30 seconds for 30 seconds using a timed exposure so it’s messing around with time – I shot for seven hours a night and got eight seconds of film.

“The images reveal the extraordinary colour shifts which the human eye filters out and all the stars that you can’t normally see.”

Portland Timescapes is part of a larger piece of work to celebrate Portland and the passions of people who live there, which will hopefully be shown during the 2012 Games.

Original music is by Alex McKechnie, a lecturer at Weymouth College.

Norman added: “I am also involved in documenting the Memo Project and am in discussion with the Royal Yachting Association on a project to explain the passion of sailing and racing.

“I’m really interested in ordinary people doing extraordinary things, if anybody out there is doing something out of the ordinary please contact me at norman@movingcontent.co.uk”
