VISITORS flocked to the final day of the 43rd Great Dorset Steam Fair yesterday.
Organiser Martin Oliver said the popular five-day event at Tarrant Hinton attracted record numbers on day one and also a surprising number of one-off visitors on the last day.
An estimated 250,000 people were expected to attend.
He said: “There was a little bit of rain in the morning, but only for about half an hour and then it brightened up quite nicely. It was a really busy day.”
Monster trucks and the music festival were among the big draws, he said. Other highlights included a stretchy man, a demon dwarf and a human pin cushion from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Dr Haze’s Freak Show.
“We’ve had a really, really busy year,” Mr Oliver added. “It’s been absolutely great. In terms of weather we’ve been really lucky. The only spot of rain we saw for the whole duration was on the last morning.”
