I would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported me in raising money for Help for Heroes.

Last month, I arranged with the Spice Centre to hold a charity curry night with entertainment. Ed Hintze, aka Elton John tribute, a local schoolteacher gave his time and talent free, as did Neil Coade also a teacher who, despite having had major surgery on his foot, turned up to help us rock Dorchester for our heroes. Thank you both from everyone.

The evening raised £850 to add to the £700 already made since February. By next February when my charity drive ends, I am hoping I can reach the £2,000 target.

Thanks must go out to Southamp-ton, Yeovil and Weymouth football clubs and Weymouth and Wolfdale golf clubs for generous raffle prizes. Thanks to Stems florist for not only blowing up all our Heroes balloons but delivering them for us at no charge, our friends who gave so generously for this raffle and last but not least the staff of the Spice Centre who, as always, went that extra mile to ensure a good evening was had by all.

During that last six months, my wife has supported me by selling Heroes goods and raised £300 separately from my other fund.
