I WOULD like to open up a discussion on the topic of the new layout of Weymouth’s so-called Transport Improve-ment Package.

Many years ago the Romans came to this country and gave us roads and they were straight.

Later on our forefathers developed traffic lights but as these only work in congested cities, they soon realised if they put roundabouts at all major junctions these would keep the traffic flowing.

The rule was quite simple you gave way to your right, and it worked perfectly up until quite recently.

Then Dorset County Council highways department was given a mandate to mess up Weymouth town centre so nothing would run correctly.

The council has achieved this unreserved mayhem in such a very short time, by just designing and installing Weymouth’s most ineffective transport package.

They must be the champion of all the oil companies. Just think how much they are raking in revenue in the Weymouth area alone daily, with thousands of cars/lorries/buses sat idling and all wasting expensive fuel at traffic lights just trying to get in and about Weymouth. For years Weymouth town centre and the surrounding areas had these roundabouts with no problems at all.

People got to work and about their business on time and didn’t have to sit in long traffic snarl ups as they now have to endure.
