THE Lyric Theatre in Bridport is half way to its £8,000 fundraising target.
The Barrack Street venue launched an appeal earlier this year after being told they needed to meet new fire regulations to bring the 18th-century building up to the 21st-century standards.
Events so far have included a tea dance, a carnival entry, variety show and an online campaign. The folk band Heron are also playing a benefit gig at the Lyric on Thursday.
Campaign leader Tessa Bide said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support from everyone.”
