POLICE are issuing a warning to people in Weymouth to lock up their bikes after a spate of thefts.

Dorset Police said that there had been an increase in pedal bike thefts in the town.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “Cycles are being stolen from garages, sheds or even bolt cropped when locked up.

“If you are the owner of a pedal cycle please ensure your cycle is locked up with a heavy duty lock or secure within your property.

“Can you please remain extra vigilant and if you see anyone acting suspiciously around cycles or properties please call Dorset Police on 101 or if a crime is in progress on 999.”
