A MAIN road in Weymouth that has been closed for almost two weeks will open today ahead of schedule – but only partially.
The A354 Weymouth Way will reopen at 4pm with a one-way traffic system remaining in place for the next fortnight.
Southern Gas Networks had planned to use the lights for a week to clean up after re-opening the stretch of road between Manor and Chafey’s Roundabout – but have decided they will now need the extra time.
It was closed for emergency gas repairs after a leak was discovered.
A spokesman for the company said: “As we would expect with work of this scope, we now have a lot of making good to do.
“We will need to do re-instatement work to clean up and repair the roads and verges to the condition in which they were when we began.
“We are sure there won’t be any major disruption and we would like to thank residents for their understanding and patience.”
