BOOK-LOVING children from Dorset are set to be wowed by a show-stopping line-up of authors and illustrators.

World Book Day’s children’s festival will be streamed live to Dorset on Thursday March 1 where youngsters will have the chance to watch online and submit questions to the likes of Jacqueline Wilson, pictured, and Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson.

Some of the best loved children’s authors and illustrators will be taking to the stage as it is streamed across the country live from London’s Southbank.

The event, which is the country’s first online children’s book festival, will air from 9.30am to 10am especially for nursery and pre-school children before older children join in the fun from 11am.

Julia Donaldson said: “I’m so excited to be part of World Book Day’s Biggest Show on Earth.

“It's a fantastic way of bringing children together to meet some of the country’s very best authors and illustrators.

“We can’t wait to transport children in Dorset to exciting new worlds.”

Eight new children’s books can be exchanged with a £1 World Book Day token which will be handed out in schools and nurseries from this month. Parents, teachers and librarians must first register for the event at worldbookday.com.
