A DORSET teen is hoping to outshine the competition and take home the title of Miss Galaxy England.

The pageant attracts 55 entrants from across England aged between 19 and 29.

Each regional finalist has to compete in the swimwear, evening wear and fashion wear categories. Many entrants also get involved in charity work.

Piddlehinton beauty Dan-ni De-Bear is hoping to take home the title for Dorset at next month’s competition.

Miss De-Bear, 18, who is Miss Dorset Galaxy, said: “I can’t wait for the Miss Galaxy competition. Mum said to me it was in three weeks and I thought: ‘Oh my goodness.’ She has been working hard to raise money for Dorset-based charity Julia’s House and became a sibling mentor last year.

The charity provides specialist care for children with life-limiting illnesses, many of whom will not live past 18.

Mentors take the siblings of children in Julia’s House out on special excursions.

Miss De-Bear said it was lovely to be able to help out.

She said: “We did one event for the siblings and we took them bowling.

“I don’t know how to explain it – it was the most amazing feeling in the world.

“Some of the siblings also go to Julia’s House as they have problems too.

“It was just amazing.”

This year’s Miss Galaxy England will take place on Saturday, March 3 at the Park Hotel in Lancashire.

Miss De-Bear has had a special evening dress made for her and is hoping it will wow the judges on the day.

She said: “I’m really pleased with it – it’s absolutely beautiful.”

Miss De-Bear added: “I still get really nervous before pageants but I don’t know, it’s just the feeling when you are up on stage – I don’t know how to explain it – to know everyone’s watching you, it’s a bit overwhelming and the adrenaline kicks in.”
