IT WAS double delight for one Chickerell couple who welcomed twins into their family.

Becky and Paul Why said they were shocked but delighted to hear the news at the 12-week scan that they would be parents to not one, but two new arrivals.

George Benedict Why was born naturally weighing 5lbs 11oz and Zachary Cohen Why was born by emergency C-section weighing 5lbs and 7oz at Dorset County Hospital on November 9, 2011.

The couple wanted to thank the staff at DCH and their midwife Michaela Rogers for their care and support looking after both new arrivals.

The couple said that the first eight weeks had been quite hard as both babies had been on different sleeping and eating patterns but they now things were getting into a routine and they were eating and sleeping at roughly the same time so that their parents could get some sleep as well.

Mrs Why said: “The first eight weeks were very hard, but they have started sleeping more now and they are smiling and have started to giggle.”

Mrs Why’s mum and great grandmother had been twins but she said it had still been a ‘huge shock’ when they found out.

She said that the best part had been seeing the couple’s three-year-old daughter Ava with her new brothers.

Mrs Why said: “She is absolutely amazing with them, she just loves them.”

The couple would like to give a special thank you to all their friends and family who helped them through the first eight weeks, making meals and helping with feeding times.

Mrs Why would also like to thank the Dorset Multiples Group for their support.
