A SCULPTOR has found himself with a brontosaurus-sized problem.

Weymouth artist Pat Moverley is appealing for community and school groups to take on a 12-foot long dinosaur.

The dinosaur, which needs finishing touches, was created on a dinosaur-inspired fun day at Portland Museum.

But the brontosaurus proved too large for the museum to take on and has now taken over Mr Moverley’s studio.

Mr Moverley, 57, said: “The dinosaur has grown and grown. It’s made out of chicken wire and wrapped plastic and it’s too big to use.

“It’s now taken over my studio and it should really go somewhere where it can be used.

“I know my kids will be sad to see it go though.”

Community worker Mr Moverley has worked with adults with learning disabilities.

He said: “I have spent a lot of time tutoring them.

“I think that any community group could get some benefit from it.

“A school group or a day centre group could finish it off. There’s a whole plethora of options.”

Mr Moverley is willing to offer his time to help a group finish off the dinosaur if they decide to adopt it.

He said: “He’s a handsome fellow. I think it’s got real potential. There are lots of groups with real enthusiasm out there and they could get it off the ground.

“If they don’t know how to get it going I will be able to offer my time to help them.

“It could be fitted into any themed work they are doing.

“It could be auctioned off for a fundraising event.

“There are so many possibilities.”

The dinosaur is 12ft long, 4ft high and 2.5ft wide.

It was created by youngsters during a day of half term activities at Portland Museum.
