I must respond to Doug Milne’s letter ‘Obvious Why Isle Isn’t Being Used’ (Have Your Say, March 6).

People in glass houses really should not throw stones.

On Weymouth seafront you are welcomed by the local vagrants drinking their strong ales and asking for money.

Then into the town where you find businesses closing at an alarming rate, and to be welcomed by what only can be described as an audition for Jeremy Kyle.

Then on to the dilapidated Pavilion complex wanted and used by so few, but we will soon have the tower, deep joy.

Then you travel over to Hope Square to what used to be a vibrant hub of activity enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike, alas no more.

You state that going to Portland would be like alighting at Upwey, well believe you me, most of the visitors will wish they had.

Give me the ‘drab’ little peninsular anytime.
