FARMERS showed off their ploughing skills at a competition in Cheselbourne.

More than 50 competitors turned out as Puddletown Young Farmers’ Club held its sixth annual ploughing match at Chebbard Farm, with the event doubling as the Dorset Young Farmers’ county ploughing match.

John Harris claimed the title of match champion, with Brian Johnson claiming the reserve champion title.

Other award winners were Michael Dean, who claimed top honours in the Young Farmers’ Reversible Class, and Peter Cox in the Young Farmers’ Conventional Class.

The event raised money for Puddletown YFC, with a barbecue and raffle for competitors and spectators.

The club praised the generosity of all those who sponsored the event or gave raffle prizes, including local businesses, machinery dealers and pubs.
