I REFER to the shocking fatal accident on the main road in Weymouth between Chafeys roundabout and the Swannery Bridge.

A family has paid the price and a little five-year-old girl has paid with her life because of inept management and shocking planning by council, government and olympic officials.

Why on earth is there a footpath leading to one of the fastest and busiest roads in Weymouth?

It is built like a racetrack and frankly the whole thing is disgusting.

All the roundabouts in the area have been redesigned for the sake of the olympics because it is the main road to the sailing academy in Portland.

Yet they have a ‘public footpath’ leading to that road, on a blind bend and with no provision for crossing the road to the nature reserve.

The powers-that-be failed to provide a subway system or a bridge to service the public footpath and now people have been killed because the flow of traffic is inevitably quicker.

This is a complete disgrace and a family’s heart has been ripped out by some inept decision making at the top level.

My heart goes out to this poor family whom this has happened to.
