I read with some interest a recent Echo story about the voluntary league of friends cafe at DCH being commercialised and taken over by the hospital to be run for profit. In a recent visit to Weymouth minor injuries unit, the lady at the league of friends shop was the only ray of light in a visit that was characterised by officious indifference that bordered on disdain.
From the reception staff to the nurse that finally saw me, I was made to feel like a time wasting interference to their daily routine.
The only human interaction that had any warmth was with the lady who ran the shop and served me a cup of tea.
Thank you to her and long may she be allowed to run the shop there.
