I see Weymouth has another charity shop opening up soon, supposed to be temporary but I hear they will move into the old Evans shop later.
I am not against charity and regularly give to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, but enough is enough.
There are too many charity shops in Weymouth.
I own an independent business in town and get angry that these charity shops can afford to do up or revamp to top spec – the likes of which I could not afford in these hard times.
It’s a shame that these charities don’t have to pay rates and get discounts on their rent, plus they are also allowed to sell new items.
I know some homework is done by way of going around the local shops to find out their prices and undercut them.
Needless to say I will not be donating items to any of these charity shops in future.
