A YOUNG entrepreneur is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for Children in Need.

Portlander Adam Fagan, 19, is a DJ and is in the process of setting up his own entertainment business called Entourage Entertainments.

As part of a new programme that will be shown on the BBC, Adam was set a challenge to take £100 and turn it into as much money as possible for Children in Need.

He will then have to go to London to pitch his ideas to business moguls including those behind the Innocent smoothies company.

Adam was given two weeks to make his £100 into something more and on Friday he will be hosting an evening of magic, music and entertainment at Weymouth Pavilion.

There will be a variety of different acts including singers, bands and Adam will be DJ-ing. Tickets are a minimum of £5 but people can give a bigger donation if they wish.

Adam said: “Hopefully if we can sell all the tickets we will raise more than £2,500 which would be amazing.”

The hard-working teenager started his own DJ business with a friend when he was 14.

As the business expanded they bought more equipment.

His friend went off to pursue his own career and Adam continued the business and now works mainly at the weekends DJ-ing and doing weddings.

He said: “I do gigs all round the South West – it’s great fun.

“It is getting so busy I have had to subcontract to other discos and it gave me the idea to get other people involved – singers and entertainers – so that’s where the entertainment agency idea came from.”

Adam said that the best bit of the job was meeting new people, adding: “I get a good friendship going with clients. I meet brides and grooms a lot to make sure their big day will be as perfect as they want.”

He added that in a couple of years he would like to see his business grow even bigger.

He said: “It would be to have a national company with acts all over the country.”

Tickets for the Children in Need gig can be brought in advance from Adam by calling 07732 546504.
