STAFF from Portland Coastguard station will walk out on strike early tomorrow.
The strike between 3am and 4am begins a week-long series of walkouts by Maritime and Coastguard Agency workers in protest at plans to close nine of the UK's 18 coastguard stations and cut more than 140 jobs.
One of the stations under threat is Portland Coastguard control centre on Weymouth Quay.
The strike has been called by the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union.
PCS members who are driving examiners in the Driving Standards Agency will also hold a two-hour strike tomorrow.
