TWO new plaques marking historic buildings in Dorchester are set to be installed.
The Dorchester Joint Heritage Committee has received a blue plaque for the site of the former Temperence Hotel in South Street where the Hardy Players used to rehearse.
The building is now occupied by New Look and David Upshall’s insurance offices above, with Mr Upshall contributing towards the cost of the plaque.
A plaque will also be in place at a house in Icen Way where stage and screen actor Maurice Evans was born.
His father, AH Evans, was also the first adapter and producer of Hardy’s novels for the Hardy Players.
Derek Beauchamp from the Joint Heritage Committee said: “Hopefully the Hardy Society, at their meeting in Dorchester in August, will mark the event or even ‘unveil’ the plaques.”
