A MAN has been warned he could face jail after he drove his car at another man in an incident in Dorchester.

Vincent Paul Lockett, of Holbaek Close, Dorchester, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Nigel Trent when he appeared before Dorchester Crown Court.

The 52-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to dangerous driving which relates to the same incident, which happened at 3pm on Saturday, February 18, in the town.

Lockett was arrested after the incident which took place outside the One Stop convenience store in Kings Road.

Prosecutor Adam Hiddleston told the court Mr Trent had to jump out of the way when the defendant drove his vehicle at him.

He said: “Lockett drove at the complainant and forced him to jump out of the way.

“CCTV shows to some extent what goes on, including the initial fight, the car striking the wall and the complainant jumping out of the way.”

Mr Trent was also punched and kicked when he was standing up and after he fell to the floor, Mr Hiddleston said.

Timothy Bradbury, defending, told the court Lockett has anger and aggression issues.

Judge Roger Jarvis told the defendant: “You’ve admitted two serious matters and there is a serious prospect of imprisonment.

“Before I sentence you I want to know more, so I am ordering a psychiatric and a pre-sentence report.”

Lockett was released on conditional bail and will return to court to be sentenced on August 17.
