INQUESTS in to the deaths of the Beaminster Tunnel landslide victims have been opened.
Rosemary Snell, aged 67, from Misterton and 72-year-old Michael Rolfe from Fivehead, Somerset were found dead on Tuesday.
The coroner heard evidence that the cause of Mr Rolfe’s death was a fracture of the cervical spine due to trapping in the landslip and would have been instantaneous.
The coroner heard evidence that the death of Rosemary Snell would have been very rapid and was caused by chest compression due to trapping.
A full inquest will be heard in due course.
