WEYMOUTH seafront will not see fireworks during the closing ceremony of the Sailing events this weekend.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council confirmed there were never plans for the special weekend to include a firework display.
A spokesman for the Borough Council said: “Sunday’s closing ceremony will be screened on the 60 metre screens on the Weymouth Beach live site and promises to be a fantastic climax to the London 2012 Games. All the build up from 6.45pm to 9pm and the closing ceremony will be screened from 9pm to midnight. Locally, plans for the closing ceremony have never included a firework display.”
The next display is on Weymouth Carnival night on Wednesday , August 15 at 9.30pm.
