PARALYMPIC medallist Niki Birrell is looking forward to getting his hands on a copy of a special Olympics and Paralympics souvenir book and reliving memories of the home Games.
The 26-year-old claimed bronze at the London 2012 Games with teammate Alexandra Rickham after a tremendous four-year build-up, which saw them win the world championship Skud-18 keelboat title four times.
Their achievements on Portland waters, together with gold won by Helena Lucas, marked the first time Great Britain had ever won Paralympic sailing medals.
Niki, who lives on Portland, said he was looking forward to seeing When the World came to Weymouth, the glossy souvenir publication produced by the Dorset Echo.
Dorset Echo editor Toby Granville said: “Our photographers captured so many great shots of the Olympic and Paralympic festivities in Weymouth and Portland that we wanted to showcase the images and celebrate this unique summer in local history.”
When the World came to Weymouth costs £3.95.
