WEYMOUTH and Portland Cruising Association held their annual general meeting at Castle Cove Sailing Club was well attended by members and saw awards handed out.
As well as the usual business there was some discussion on the falling membership and an open evening is being considered in the near future to try to boost numbers.
A series of awards were handed to six people: Brian Lincoln was recognised with the Ubiquitous Cup for help and support to the committee, Ernest Rowe was honoured with the WPCA Committee Cup for long standing support of the club and committee.
Peter Rigby was given the Ken Bruton Trophy for most active newcomer, Steve Bowerman was recognised for his writing with the Trevor Richard’s Trophy for the best article in Cruiser magazine, while Chris and Tess Reid received the Founder’s Cup for the best cruising presentation or talk.
