WEYMOUTH enjoyed a successful day at Swanage Regatta, as the sun shone and the under-16 and ladies’ B crews took first places.

Swanage bay sparkled as more hard fought races took place, and the ladies’ C and the ladies’ Vets both took second places.

Weymouth men’s A and mixed crew achieved well-earned third places.

The under-16s made Weymouth Rowing Club very proud as they once again won their race convincingly.

Dave Archer, their cox and coach said: “It was a terrific performance by our under-16s who came first to gain medals for the second year running.

“They made me feel extremely proud and their hard work and training paid off.”

Weymouth are currently fourth in the Jurassic League with 60 points, just a few points behind Langstone, while Bridport currently lead the league with Lyme Regis second.

The next Jurassic League Regatta is hosted by Langstone on June 15. The Weymouth club would like to say a big thank you to Swanage for hosting such a great day.

Elsewhere, Weymouth men’s veterans took fourth place behind winners Lyme Regis.

Weymouth ladies’ A picked up a solid fifth position trailing victors Bridport.

Bridport were the overall winners of the regatta having collected five victories in total.

They were followed by Lyme Regis and hosts Swanage in second and third.
