WEYMOUTH & Portland Cruising Association members packed out Castle Cove Sailing Club last Tuesday to hear Chris and Tess Reid’s talk on their visit to the Isles of Scilly.
Having sailed there on four separate occasions, spending nearly 10 weeks on the islands, they have an extensive knowledge of navigating around the area, the safe anchorages in different winds and the best places to visit.
This year the duo was joined by club members Jacquie and Patrick Crawley in Minnehaha and Margaret and Paul Roberts in Stella and their talk encouraged many members to consider cruising to the Scillies next summer.
Next week, the club will be welcoming Anna Bunney from ORCA Portsmouth, a charity entirely dedicated to studying and protecting whales, dolphins and porpoises in the UK and European waters.
Anna will give an illustrated presentation into the work of the organization. All local sailors are welcome to come along to the talk at Castle Cove Sailing Club (8pm).
