STUDENTS from a Weymouth school learnt about foods from around the world on a trip to Asda.
Youngsters from Conifers Primary School went to the store to learn about different foods and where they come from in the world as part of a topic called Multicultural Me.
Students had been learning all about different cultures.
They visited the supermarket to look at seasonal fruits from the UK as well as exotic fruits from overseas.
They had to find items grown in Britain.
Then the students were given a budget of £5 for each team and they had to find something they hadn't tried before and buy enough so that the whole class could try it when they got back to school.
Students brought poppadoms and chutney, Mexican tortilla chips and dip, German smoked cheese and Polony sausage.
Year Three teacher Laura Wilson said: “It was good – really positive. The children loved it.”
She added: “It was a really good day, we enjoyed it.”
Asda Community Life Champion Sandy West organised a quiz for the children to find different fruits and vegetable and where they came from.
She gave the schools some different exotic fruit to take back to school to try.
She said: “It’s nice we can give them the opportunity to come in and do this.
“It’s important for us to work with the schools.”
