The school community at St Mary’s Middle School, Puddletown, has made a 2020 retrospective YouTube video - Finding Our Way.
With the video, the pupils were keen to create an uplifting mood by focusing on what they did achieve during this difficult year.
The soundtrack by Barcelona-based group, Big Mouthers, is a rock twist on the Sinatra classic My Way. When contacted in Spain, the group were delighted that their song had been used in such a positive way and described it as a 'shot of happiness'.
The St Mary’s video coordinator, Jen Welsby said: “Our children's mental health and wellbeing is hugely important to us. Their positivity and resilience in managing the challenges they faced was inspiring."
The Australian psychologist Dr Tim Sharp ‘Dr Happy’, the man at the forefront of the positive psychology movement, also tweeted his support.
Headteacher, Darren Ayling said: "We are so proud of the way that our pupils, parents and staff coped with the unexpected challenges of 2020. We hope our video will spread a little happiness at this time of year."
