BUILDING schemes in Dorset are in with a chance of winning a regional award.

The house at St John Way in Poundbury, and the Swanage Recycling Centre have been shortlisted for the project of the year run by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for the south west and Wales.

The recycling centre will be judged in the infrastructure category, with the Poundbury entry up for an award in the residential category.

A further title is also up for grabs for the project judged to have scored most highly from all nine categories.

Joint chairman of the judging panel Mark Robinson said: “Each year these awards honour outstanding projects delivered through strong teamwork. Despite the slowdown in the economy, both regions still enjoy a large pool of talented individuals, companies and organisations in the property and construction sectors.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Rookery Manor in Somerset in May.

The regional winners will go on to compete in the national round of the competition.
