PEOPLE living in the countryside can get involved in a campaign to map phone reception rates.
The Countryside Alliance wants people to download a free app to their smartphone to test and record the signal strength in their area.
Executive chairman Barney White-Spunner said: “The rates of phone coverage quoted by phone companies are a best case scenario. We all know how much phone reception can vary in the countryside and we feel households and businesses based there are at a disadvantage.”
The government has pledged to inject £150m into a mobile phone infrastructure project.
The information recorded by the RootMetrics app will be used to lobby phone companies and the government to improve phone signals. For details visit rootmetrics.com/uk
