CAN anyone help us to help a Looking Back reader called John Delderfield?

John got in touch to ask if we could help him find out more about a family photo sent to his mother by George Tippett, her cousin, the man in the middle.

The photo was taken at a holiday camp in Weymouth in 1962 or 1963, John said, as George Tippett repaired one-arm bandits

I'm guessing this is taken at a holiday camp, not least as George repaired one-armed-bandits (slot machine).

John said: "I suspect the chap on the left is some sort of games organiser but the fellow on the right is named although I cannot decipher the writing.

"What's the building in the background? The word 'Revence'?"

Here at Looking Back we were wondering if the word on the back of the photo might be 'the Riviera' and if the photo was taken at the Riviera Hotel in Weymouth.

In the 1930s the Bowleaze Coveway area started to develop as an attractive alternative to the main beach and campsites and, later, caravan parks were developed.

The art deco Riviera Hotel was built in 1937.
