AGAIN we're taking a trip to the beach courtesy of Looking Back reader Bill Macey.
In the picture on the left kindly submitted by Bill, we can see people enjoying themselves on a trip to the seaside in 1925.
The photo was taken just a couple of years after the Esplanade was widened around the Jubilee Clock. The clock was set back from the beach as the esplanade was extended around it to protect the beach from the encroachment of shingle from the eastern end.
Bill points out: "Just note the height of the Esplanade wall, but times have changed and the sea never reaches the Esplanade wall now."
The picture on the right, taken in 1918 is fairly self-explanatory, Bill says - here we can see people enjoying a day on Weymouth's golden sands. Many youngsters seem to be enjoying a paddle and the adults are enjoying sitting back in a deckchair on the beach.
