WHO knew that this building in Walpole Street, Weymouth, contained so many memories?

This building used to be St Augustine's School and the school is now, of course, in Hardy Avenue off Chickerell Road. The school moved across town in the 1960s.

Back at the original school pupils would be taught by nuns. It is thought that Sister Mary Patrick was in charge and there was also a Sister Philomena. Also remembered is Sister Mary Clare.

Pupils would travel to the hall behind St Augustine's Church on Dorchester Road for their lunch every day - in all weathers! Among the most remembered lunches are prunes and runny custard!
