IT was good to know that one Looking Back reader enjoyed our recent series of charabanc pictures.

These early form of buses were used for pleasure trips, usually to the seaside, and it appears as though many trips used to depart from Weymouth.

Reader Daphne Styan drew our attention to this postcard of her mother and father-in-law Mary and Ernest Styan on a charabanc trip from Weymouth to Lulworth Cove. The couple are underneath the parasol in the row second from the back in the photograph. The postcard is marked Chambers Kiosk, Esplanade, Weymouth. Mrs Styan, of Dorchester, said she came across the postcard when she was having a recent look through her belongings.

Mrs Styan also wanted to share this photo of a trip that she thinks was to Beaulieu in Hampshire in around 1960, where her eldest daughter Susan is photographed with Mrs Styan's mother-in-law Mary Styan. At the same time this picture was being taken, Mrs Styan's late husband Frank was taking the photo of Ernest, Mrs Styan's father-in-law taking the happy picture picture of gran and granddaughter. Thanks for sharing Mrs Styan!
