THANKS so much to Roger Stickland for getting in touch after seeing this well known photo of Dorchester High Street East in 1954 in Looking Back.
There is a special reason for Roger to do so - he wanted to let us know that the man in the photograph shooing the bull from the shop is his father William and that there were three bullocks inside the store!
William Stickland was a blacksmith with a shoeing and general forge at 4 Icen Way in Dorchester. Roger's grandfather started at the blacksmith's all the way back in 1898.
