On Friday we sang our hearts out to Dame Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again in the scaled down way none of us wanted to celebrate the landmark 75th anniversary of VE Day.

But those lyrics resonated with the times we're currently living through as we yearn to spend time with loved ones who we can't see right now during this difficult time.

Many of you still got out the bunting to celebrate. We were delighted to see this photo from Beverly Brown of a very patriotically adorned Swannery Court in Weymouth and a further photo from Janet Kench of a decorated Portland home.

And we're also using their opportunity to cast our minds back to 1995 when we celebrated the 50th anniversary of VE Day with a giant street party on Weymouth seafront. Jan Ridler sent us these photos of his daughter Michelle Ridler holding her son Ashley who was born that year. The second photo is of Jan's wife Lorraine holding her granddaughter, who was then aged two. Jan can be seen in the photo keeping cool with a panama hat on. At the time the family lived in Wyke Regis. They now live on Portland.
